The Texas Ale Project opened in Dallas’ Design District in mid November. Founders Brent Thompson and Kat Stevens hired German native and Weihenstephan graduate Jan Matysiak, formerly of Austin’s Live Oak Brewing and Brooklyn’s Sixpoint Brewing, as their head brewer. Texas Ale Project was formerly known during development as Reunion Brewing Company.
Co-founder and brewer Michael Harper parted ways with Panther Island Brewing in August over an unspecified disagreement with investors. Harper was an original part of the brewery during its years of development and opening last June, and his future involvement with the local brewing industry is uncertain.

The Collective Brewing Project opened in south Fort Worth in early November.
